SkyCommand Mission Control

Plan a flight against the actual 3D geometry of your site, simulate it before anything leaves the ground, then watch the aircraft fly it with telemetry streaming back into the same scene.

How it works

01

Plan against real terrain

Draw a route directly on the twin. Waypoints carry altitude above ground level, so the path follows terrain and clears structures instead of assuming a flat world.

02

Simulate before you fly

Run the mission as an animation first. Watch the aircraft trace the path, check camera framing at each waypoint, and catch a clipped rooftop while it is still free to fix.

03

Fly and monitor

Export to your aircraft or fly through the MAVLink proxy. Position, battery, and heading stream back over WebSocket into the live scene as the mission runs.

Capabilities

Autonomous waypoints

Plot smooth 3D paths using CatmullRom splines for photogrammetry passes, facade scans, or perimeter patrols — repeatable flight after flight without manual piloting.

Live telemetry

Low-latency WebSocket telemetry renders the aircraft in the 3D map at true MSL altitude, so the icon on screen is where the drone actually is, not a flat map approximation.

No-fly zone enforcement

Restricted airspace and site exclusion zones are validated during planning, not after takeoff. Missions that intersect a no-fly volume are flagged before they can be dispatched.

Fleet agnostic

A MAVLink-compatible proxy handles DJI, Autel, and custom PX4 airframes, unifying a mixed fleet behind one control surface rather than one vendor app per aircraft.

DJI WPML export

Missions export to DJI WPML waypoint files, so a route planned in the twin can be flown by a standard DJI controller without re-entering coordinates by hand.

FPV streaming

A dedicated FPV channel puts the operator in the cockpit view while the same mission runs in the twin beside it — useful for close inspection and remote sign-off.

Frequently asked questions

What is autonomous drone mission control?

Autonomous drone mission control means defining a flight as a repeatable set of waypoints, altitudes, and camera actions that the aircraft executes on its own. The operator supervises rather than pilots, which makes weekly or daily site capture practical and produces consistent imagery between flights.

Which drones does SkyCommand support?

SkyCommand talks to DJI, Autel, and custom PX4 airframes through a MAVLink-compatible proxy. Missions also export as DJI WPML waypoint files, so a route planned inside the twin can be flown from a standard DJI controller.

How does SkyCommand handle no-fly zones?

Restricted airspace and site-specific exclusion volumes are checked while the mission is being planned. A route that intersects a no-fly volume is flagged before dispatch, so the constraint is enforced on the ground rather than discovered in the air.

Can I preview a mission before flying it?

Yes. Every mission can be simulated as an animation over the real 3D terrain of your site. You can watch the full flight path, verify clearance over structures, and check camera framing at each waypoint before committing an aircraft.

Do I need my own drone team?

No. Drone mission services are sold separately from the platform: KatanaTech operators fly the missions and deliver the processed capture and inspection reports back into your twin. Teams with in-house pilots can use SkyCommand directly instead.
